Lee Gowan grew up on a farm near Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He has published short stories and poetry in numerous periodicals and anthologies, including Canadian Fiction Magazine, Grain and Prairie Fire. His collection of stories, Going to Cuba, was published to critical acclaim in 1990 and was a Critic's Choice selection in The Vancouver Sun. The Last Cowboy has just been published in France. Lee lives with his wife and their young son in Toronto, where he teaches writing at the University of Toronto's Shool of Architecture.
"Gowan never wavers…the book simply flows. The Last Cowboy
is an engaging book that is at once funny, poignant and a razor-sharp image of that most tender and terrible of entities: the family.”
