Mark Lavorato was raised on the prairies but has spent most of his adult life abroad, living and working in various countries throughout Central and North America, the Caribbean, and Europe. He studied Environmental Science but has also worked as a climbing instructor, English teacher, as well as running wilderness expeditions for Outward Bound Canada. He began writing seriously at the age of 27, and has since published short stories and poetry in many literary magazines and anthologies. Wayworn Wooden Floors is his first book-length poetry collection.
‘Throughout [Wayworn Wooden Floors
], Lavorato plays with a variety of forms, giving readers an opportunity to be active as well as passive recipients of his words. We are never complacent and he is not predictable.’
